If there is not an internship listed below that you are interested in but you feel you have something to offer, we will consider special requests and projects if it can benefit our organization.

An internship is a great way to gain experience, learn new skills, and network with professionals.
 
 
We accept internship applications for fall, spring, and summer semesters. Interns may seek class credit through their universities or colleges if they choose to, but it is not required. All internships are unpaid. Click on each internship to view full description.

The Client Intake Intern will assist with client intake at public food distributions held by Hays County Food Bank and maintain client records using Food Bank Manager (the client database for the organization). This intern will report directly to the Programs Director.

The Client Stories Intern will gain hands-on experience by brainstorming and researching unique ways to collect client stories, utilizing a variety of media tools during story collection (ex: paper surveys, audio, video, photography, client artwork), conducting personal interviews, and organizing results into meaningful materials for the community. This intern will report directly to the Programs Director.

The Development Intern will work directly with the Development & Special Events Coordinator to research and cultivate supporters, manage the organization’s donor database, track and evaluate fundraising efforts, and organize events.

The Management Intern will focus on creative problem solving, organizing processes, and communicating best practices and opportunities to our paid and volunteer resources. This dynamic position will have you managing data one day, creating a lunch & learn development opportunity for staff another, and then researching vendors to lower costs and increase productivity. This intern will work directly with the Chief Executive Officer.

The Marketing & Communications Intern will work directly with the Communications Coordinator to create event collateral, write blogs, press releases and social media blurbs to reach out to the community about Hays County Food Bank’s mission and efforts.

The Nutrition Education Intern supports, improves, and implements Nutrition Education Programs (Food-Wise Cooking Classes, Child Nutrition Engagement Program sessions, and Senior Nutrition & Wellness Program sessions). Individuals will gain valuable experience in community health, building non-profit relationships, public speaking, lesson planning, time-management, and program evaluation.

The Operations & Facilities Intern will assist the Operations & Facilities Coordinator in all aspects of operations and facility maintenance. In addition, the intern will create/maintain systems for facility maintenance that include our fleet of vehicles, document warehouse and food distribution procedures ensuring the safe handling of food, and provide creative and innovative solutions for our non-profit to increase efficiency and workflow.<

The Special Events Intern will work directly with the Development & Special Events Coordinator to observe and assist with various projects surrounding fundraisers and third party fundraisers.

The Volunteer Services Intern will work directly with the Volunteer Services Coordinator to assist with the recruitment, training and management of volunteers in order to aid the organization in its mission. The intern will assist with volunteer recruitment, communications and program development.
